I spent my academic career pursuing health for others, culminating in my master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Integrative Health from the Maryland University of Integrative Health in 2020. It was while working in this space, interning for a functional medicine physician, that I was first introduced to hyperbaric oxygen therapy as it was offered in the clinic. I was immediately drawn to both the simplicity of the treatment’s mechanics and the profound impacts that pressure and oxygen could elicit. I regularly employ many of the skills I acquired while coaching nutritional clients today, whether that be directly advising HBOT patients on dietary or supplemental interventions they can use to optimize their outcomes, or simply providing a healing presence and welcoming bedside manner to our patient base.
